Robatic arm

A robotic arm is a particular kind of mechanical arm that can be programmed and performs tasks comparable to those of a human arm. It can be a standalone robot or a component of a more sophisticated robot. Such a manipulator has joints that allow for either translational (linear) displacement or rotational motion, similar to an articulated robot. A kinematic chain may be thought of as being formed by the manipulator's linkages. The end effector, which is similar to the human hand, is the culmination of the manipulator's kinematic chain. However, the phrase "robotic hand" is frequently used as a synonym for the robotic arm.

Types:

  • Cartesian robot / Gantry robot
  • collaborative robot / Cobot:
  • Cylindrical robot
  • Spherical robot / Polar robot
  • SCARA robot
  • Articulated robot
  • Parallel robot
  • Anthropomorphic robot

Low-cost robotic arms

The availability of inexpensive robotic arms significantly grew throughout the decade 2010-2010. Although these robotic arms are often sold as toys or instructional tools, applications in laboratory automation, such as their usage as autosamplers, have been suggested.
